What is 2FA?

Important: 2FA connection is a must for using the platform.

An important step to ensure account security is setting up two-factor profile authentication (2FA) in your personal account, which involves entering two “keys” to ensure better account protection from hacking:

- The first “key” is login and password

- The second “key” is a one-time code generated by an additionally selected 2FA. Login using the FIDO2 biometric authentication system is also available on the platform.

2FA setup is available on FREE2EX via:

- Google Authenticator

- FIDO2

How to set up 2FA with Google Authenticator?

Important: We use the TOTP protocol. Any application that works with this protocol is suitable for setting up 2FA: Yandex.Key, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.

The Google Authenticator application generates one-time codes that are used when logging into your personal account and withdrawing funds. The application is available for any smartphone and functions even if your phone is offline.

To connect 2FA with Google Authenticator, you need to go to your personal account:

Settings -> Security  -> Account Security  -> Google Authenticator

Setting up 2FA begins with choosing your phone's OS and installing the application on your phone:

After selecting your phone OS, you will see a link to the application download address and setup instructions:

1. Tap + in the Google Authenticator app.

2. Click Scan Barcode.

3. Scan the barcode (QR displayed below the instructions) using your phone's camera.

If you were unable to scan the barcode, click "Unable to scan the barcode?" below the instructions and enter the "key" manually. Enter the 6-digit generated code from Google Authenticator and click "Enable".

As a result, you will have 2FA enabled using Google Authenticator to log into your account and withdraw funds.

What to do if the codes do not arrive in the application?

Sometimes codes may not arrive if the time on your device is not synchronized with the global time and is behind or ahead of it. Please go to the Google Authenticator application, go to "Settings" - "Time correction for codes" - "Synchronize". After this, time synchronization will occur.

How to disable authentication via Google Authenticator?

If you have lost access to Google Authenticator, you will need to submit a request to disable two-factor authentication. 

To do this, you need to record a video with a passport or other identity document in which you say that you are requesting to disable 2FA.

Here's an example of what to say in the video:

“I (state your name, last name and year of birth), recording this video (day, month, year), ask you to remove two-factor authentication via Google Authenticator from my account on the FREE2EX platform for the reason (tell us about the reason for removing the protection, for example: loss of access to the device). I understand all the risks and take responsibility for the consequences of removing double protection from my account."

The video will need to be sent to compliance@free2ex.com from the email you registered with, indicating your eWallet.

IMPORTANT:

• The request is reviewed within 24 hours. After checking the video, you will receive a response by e-mail.
  

• After this, you will need to log in to your account and enable 2FA again.
