2FA / Two-factor authentication

2FA / Two-factor authentication

What is 2FA?

InfoImportant: A 2FA connection is a prerequisite for using the platform.
An important step to ensure account security is setting up two-factor profile authentication (2FA) in your personal account, which involves entering two “keys” to better protect your account from hacking:
- The first “key” is a username and password
- The second “key” is a one-time code generated by the additionally selected 2FA. Also available on the platform is login using the FIDO2 biometric authentication system.

FREE2EX has 2FA setup available through:
- Google Authenticator
- FIDO2

How to set up 2FA with Google Authenticator?

InfoImportant: We use the TOTP protocol. Any applications that work with this protocol are suitable for setting up 2FA: Yandex.Key, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.
The Google Authenticator app generates one-time codes that are used to log in and withdraw funds. The application is available for any smartphone and functions even if your phone is offline.

To connect 2FA with Google Authenticator you need to go to:
Settings -> Account Security -> Authentication Methods -> Google Authenticator

Setting up 2FA starts with selecting your phone's OS and installing an app on your phone (Google Authenticator app).

After selecting the phone OS, you will be presented with a link to the app download address and instructions on how to set it up:
1. Tap + in the Google Authenticator app.

2. Tap “Scan a QR Code.”

3. Scan the QR displayed below the instructions with your phone's camera.

In case you failed to scan the barcode, click “Barcode Scan Failed?” below the instructions and enter the “key” manually. Enter the 6-digit generated code from Google Authenticator and click “Enable”.
As a result, you will have 2FA connected using Google Authenticator for logging in and withdrawals.

What to do if the codes don't come to the app?

Sometimes codes may not arrive if the time on your device is not synchronized with the global time and is behind or ahead of it. Please go to the Google Authenticator app, go to Settings - Time Correction for Codes - Synchronize. After that time synchronization will take place.

How do I disable authentication via Google Authenticator?

If you have lost access to Google Authenticator, you need to submit a request to disable two-factor authentication.

To do this, you need to record a video with your passport or other proof of identity saying that you are requesting to disable 2FA.

Here is an example of what to say on the video:

“I (name your name, surname and year of birth), record this video (date, month, year), I ask to remove two-factor authentication through Google Authenticator from my account on the platform FREE2EX for the reason (tell about the reason of removal of protection, for example: loss of access to the device). I understand the risks involved and accept responsibility for the consequences of removing dual protection from my account.”

Video should be sent to compliance@free2ex.com with indication of your eWallet.

Notes:Info
  • The request is reviewed within 24 hours. After the video has been verified, you will receive an e-mail reply.

  • You will then need to log back into your account and connect 2FA again.
